Jelassi Stays Active

[user20283]

On a {8-Clubs}{9-Diamonds}{2-Diamonds} flop Konstantin Uspenskiy bet 15,500 from the under the gun position getting one caller, Ramzi Jelassi, from the small blind. Callaghan folded from the big blind giving us heads-up action on the turn. The turn was the {K-Hearts} and both players checked. The river was the {7-Diamonds} and Uspenskiy bet 33,000 without getting a caller. Jelassi showed {K-}{K-} as he mucked for a turned set.

The very next hand we caught the action on the flop once more with {5-Clubs}{5-Hearts}{J-Hearts} showing. Oleskii Kovalchuk bet 14,000 and Jelassi called from the button. The other player in the pot folded his hand from the blinds. The turn was the {9-Hearts} and Kovalchuk checked to Jelassi who bet 26,000. Kovalchuk tanked for a solid minute before raising to 60,000. Jelassi didn't insta-fold like we've seen before but he also didn't put in his remaining 80,000 chips. Jelassi thought about it for two minutes and finally decided to shove getting Kovalchuk to snap-fold.

Jelassi keeps having monster swings but for the moment he's up to 220,000 while Uspenskiy is second in chips behind the fearless Sam Trickett.

Jason Mercier is down but not out

Konstantin Uspenskiy raised from early position and Jason Mercier decided to defend his big bling. The flop rained down {K-Hearts} {4-Diamonds} {2-Spades} and Mercier made a very small check-raise and Uspenskiy called. The turn was the {10-Hearts} and both players checked before we saw the action card of {9-Diamonds}. Mercier bet 34,000 and Uspenskiy moved all-in for 136,000. Mercier took his time before eventually making the call and mucked his hand when he saw the nuts in the hand of Uspenskiy.

Alfredo Vega Eliminated in 19th Place (Bubble Boy)

Alfredo Vega is the bubble boy
Alfredo Vega is the bubble boy

Jason Mercier opened the action with a bet of 6,000 from under the gun. Alfredo Vega announced pot from the button and the dealer told him it was 22,500. The action folded back to Mercier who decided to just call.

Flop: {Q-Hearts} {4-Diamonds} {3-Spades}

Mercier had Vega covered and after asking for a count (Vega had approx. 75,000) Mercier bet pot (49,500). Action back to Vega who moved all-in and Mercier called.

Mercier{K-Spades} {Q-Spades} {8-Clubs} {6-Clubs}
Vega{A-Hearts} {A-Diamonds} {Q-Diamonds} {4-Clubs}

Vega was a 66% favourite to win the hand and the {9-Clubs} on the turn just strengthened his position. Then the dealer put a smile on the faces of 17 other players when he laid the {K-Clubs} down on the board and Vega had been caught on the river.

Still Bubbling

[user20283] • Level 15: 1,500-3,000, 0 ante

We still have 19 players contending for 18 paid spots, the fifth hand of bubble play just started and we don't see too many shallow stacks.

Jelassi Bleeds Heavily, Billirakis Back in The Hunt

[user20283]

Steve Billirakis raised pre flop to 6,500 from the cut-off to start off the action. Shawn Buchanan folded his button giving the action to Jelassi who was in the small blind. The Swede three-bet to 22,500 after which Abecassis quickly folded. "I pot," Billirakis said and Jelassi replied with, "I guess I'll have to suck out". After getting the numbers straight Billirakis's re-raise was to 70,500 and Jelassi called.

The flop brought out {J-Spades}{J-Hearts}{K-Spades} and Jelassi checked to Billirakis who pushed all-in for his las 20,500 chips. Jelassi called so we got to see the following showdown.

Steve Billirakis{A-Clubs}{A-Hearts}{Q-Hearts}{3-Hearts}
Ramzi Jelassi{A-Diamonds}{K-Diamonds}{10-Clubs}{8-Clubs}

The turn was the {4-Spades} and the river the {7-Clubs} giving Billirakis a crucial double up one spot from the money. Jelassi is almost back to average after having three times that amount just moments ago.
