Shchmelev Quaters O'Shea in a Monster Pot

[user217945] • Level 20: 5,000-10,000, 0 ante

We didn't catch the action of the hand but we do know that Vladimir Shchmelev just quartered John O'Shea in a huge pot. O'Shea was holding aces, but they didn't hold up against Shchmelev's hand and he raked in the huge pot.

He's now the overwhelming tournament chip leader with everyone nipping on his heals.

Chidwick Doubles Through Price

[user249920] • Level 20: 5,000-10,000, 0 ante

Stephen Chidwick got his last 50,000 or so in the pot preflop, and Robert Price made the call.

Price: {a-Diamonds}{k-Clubs}{k-Hearts}{10-Diamonds}
Chidwick: {8-Clubs}{3-Diamonds}{5-Hearts}{2-Clubs}

Chidwick's rags looked a lot brighter after the flop came {5-Diamonds}{4-Clubs}{7-Spades}, giving him a freeroll for the whole pot and a lock for the low. An {a-Clubs} turn ended the sweat early, giving Chidwick a wheel.

O'Shea Gets A Quarter From Makarov

[user217945] • Level 19: 4,000-8,000, 0 ante

On a flop of {2-Diamonds}{5-Diamonds}{2-Spades}, Alexey Makarov put out a bet of what looked like 40,000. From there John O'Shea potted from the button, and him and Makarov ended up getting all the money in the middle.

Makarov: {A-Hearts}{3-Hearts}{4-Hearts}{6-Clubs}
O'Shea: {A-Clubs}{q-Hearts}{2-Clubs}{4-Diamonds}

Makarov had a wrap straight draw with a huge low draw, while O'Shae had flopped three deuces with a higher low draw.

The turn was the {A-Spades} giving O'Shea a boat, but Makarov a low and it looked like it would be a chop from there, but the {3-Clubs} came on the river giving the two players the same wheel for the low. With that, Makarov fell from his position atop the chip counts while O'Shea gained some ground as the players approached the final table.

Shulman Jams the Flop

[user249920] • Level 19: 4,000-8,000, 0 ante

Allyn Jaffrey Shulman opened for a raise to 16,000, and Stephen Chidwick repotted to 60,000. Shulman made the call after everyone else had folded.

The flop came {q-Hearts}{3-Diamonds}{4-Spades}, and Shulman must have liked what she saw because she moved all in, covering Chidwick. Chidwick tanked for about two minutes before softly pushing his cards to the dealer.

Nelson Doubles Through Chidwick

[user217945] • Level 19: 4,000-8,000, 0 ante

Tyler Nelson and Stephen Chidwick got all the money in before the flop. Nelson was holding {A-Diamonds}{2-Spades}{7-Diamonds}{3-Hearts} and we only saw Chidwicks {K-}{4-}{X-}{X-}. Either way, the board ran out {6-Clubs}{3-Clubs}{5-Clubs}{2-Clubs}{A-Spades} and that was good for Nelson to get a full scoop for both the high and low. He's up close to 200,000 while Chidwick is hurting for some chips with just about 120,000 left.

Ari Engel Eliminated in 17th Place ($10,699)

[user249920] • Level 19: 4,000-8,000, 0 ante
Ari Engel
Ari Engel

Ari Engel and Joshua Weiland got it all in before the flop.

Engel: {a-Clubs}{k-Clubs}{2-Diamonds}{k-Hearts}
Weiland: {a-Diamonds}{2-}{6-Hearts}{4-Hearts}

The board ran out {10-Spades}{7-Diamonds}{3-Hearts}{j-Hearts}{9-Diamonds}, doubling Weiland up.

A short time later, Engel got all in with {a-}{4-Clubs}{3-Spades}{5-Diamonds} against an opponent who held {a-}{a-}{3-}{10-}. The player with the aces made a straight on the river, and Engel was done.

Meanwhile, at the other table, Mel Judah managed to quarter an opponent despite being well behind on the {a-}{3-}{5-} flop. Judah had {a-}{a-}{2-}{8-}, but his opponent had {a-}{2-}{4-}{k-} for a wheel. The turn was a {5-}, giving Judah the high, but the {4-} river allowed him to chop the low.

Weiland Gets Some Back From Cai

[user217945] • Level 19: 4,000-8,000, 0 ante

Action folded to Joshua Weiland who potted from the button to 28,000. Zhen Cai in the big blind repotted and the two got it all in.

Weiland: {K-Spades}{3-Spades}{7-Hearts}{2-Diamonds}
Cai: {7-Diamonds}{J-Diamonds}{2-Spades}{4-Spades}

The board ran out {6-Clubs}{5-Hearts}{9-Hearts}{4-Hearts}{6-Spades} giving Weiland a seven-high straight and a deuce-three low, that was good enough to scoop the pot for a double.

Shulman Quarters Weiland

[user249920] • Level 19: 4,000-8,000, 0 ante

Allyn Jaffrey Shulman check-called a bet from Joshua Weiland after the {6-Clubs}{5-Hearts}{k-Hearts} flop. She then check-called again for the last of Weiland's chips after the {6-Hearts} turn.

Weiland: {a-Spades}{4-Hearts}{7-Spades}{j-Spades}
Shulman: {a-Diamonds}{4-Diamonds}{2-Clubs}{7-Hearts}

Shulman had the lead for low, and both players had the same straight draw, but a high card would give Weiland the whole pot with ace-jack high. Unfortunately for him, the river was the {8-Clubs}, giving both players their straights but Shulman the low, so Weiland only collected a quarter of the pot.
