Cody Catches, Knocks Out Le

Jake Cody raised to 8,500 from middle position and got a caller in the player sitting in the cutoff seat. The action was on Nam Le on the button, and after checking his cards he declared an all-in reraise amounting to about 60,000. The blinds folded, and after tanking a bit Cody said he was reraising over the top all in, forcing a quick fold from the third player.

Cody: {K-Hearts}{J-Diamonds}
Le: {A-Hearts}{K-Spades}

The dealer burned a card and spread the flop — {9-Hearts}{J-Hearts}{7-Spades} — pairing Cody. The turn was the {10-Spades} and river the {3-Spades}, and Le is out.

Renaut Remains

Samantha Cohen ran into some bad luck a short time ago after calling a short-stacked player's all in with {K-Clubs}{K-Hearts} while she held {A-Diamonds}{A-Hearts}. The board came {Q-Spades}{3-Hearts}{8-Spades}{K-Diamonds}{8-Diamonds} to double up her opponent and cripple Cohen, and she was eliminated shortly thereafter in 99th.

With her elimination, that means Claire Renaut is our last remaining woman among the 93 remaining players. She's been hanging on with a below average stack for a while, hovering between 60,000-80,000.

Cordero Knocks One Away

Alex Cordero has just eliminated a player in brutal fashion. We arrived at the table with a rather short-stacked player being all-in holding {a-Hearts}{q-Hearts} against Cordero's {a-Clubs}{q-Clubs}. When the {9-Clubs}{4-Spades}{9-Hearts} flop was dealt, the players joked that they both had a chance to make the flush. The joking stopped on the {5-Clubs} turn though and then the table was completely silent as a disappointed player watched the {6-Clubs} complete the board on the river, giving Cordero the unlikely flush.

100 Remain

Level 17 : 2,000-4,000, 500 ante

From a starting field of 4,620. One more elimination and the payouts increase over $4,000.

Cordero Catching Cards

Start-of-day chip leader Alex Cordero has bounced back in a big way, playing a high percentage of hands and gathering chips at a rapid pace as the field dwindles down toward 100.

He's won several pots over the last 15 minutes, including knocking out Francois Pirault along the way. In that one Pirault was all in with {K-Diamonds}{Q-Hearts} against Cordero's {2-Hearts}{2-Spades}, and when the board rolled out {5-Hearts}{A-Hearts}{4-Clubs}{2-Diamonds}{10-Diamonds}, Cordero had a set, Pirault was out in 107th, and Cordero was on his way toward pushing his stack over the 350,000-chip mark.

Double For Saechao

Level 17 : 2,000-4,000, 500 ante
Chiab Saechao
Chiab Saechao

We heard Chiab Saechao hit his hands against the felt and yell, "Yeah!" in celebration, so we went over to see what had happened.

Apparently Saechao got all in on a {6-}{J-}{7-} flop against a lone opponent for approximately 70,000. Chiab held the {8-Hearts}{9-Hearts} for an open-ended straight draw and his opponent held the {J-Clubs}{5-Clubs} for top pair.

The {6-Clubs} turn bricked for Saechao, however, the {10-Diamonds} river gave him the straight he was looking for and he doubled through to 145,000.

Ravneet Rolling

With more than 30,000 already in the middle and the flop having come {10-Diamonds}{Q-Clubs}{8-Clubs}, Alex Cordero bet 22,000, and Johal called. The turn was the {5-Diamonds} and both players checked.

The river brought the {K-Diamonds}. This time Cordero bet 25,000, and after a lengthy pause Johal raised to 55,000. Cordero went deep into the tank, finally emerging to fold.
