Busquet Crippled

Olivier Busquet recently took a seat in the Brasilia room with nearly 30,000, but a recent hand has left him critically short.

We missed the exact preflop action, but caught up just as Busquet's lone opponent was getting all in against him for 26,000.

Busquet: {A-Hearts}{Q-Hearts}
Opponent: {10-Clubs}{10-Spades}

The {A-Spades}{2-Diamonds}{Q-Clubs} flop looked good for Busquet, however, the {10-Hearts} turn left him in dire straights. The {2-Spades} river was no help to Busquet and his opponent doubled through him.

Busquet was left with just 2,000 following the hand and was busted shortly thereafter.

Heinz Doubles

A player in middle position raised and action folded over to Pius Heinz in the big blind, who went all in for his last 3,750. His opponent called and hands were revealed.

Heinz: {5-Spades}{5-Clubs}
Opponent: {A-Spades}{J-Clubs}

The {7-Spades}{4-Spades}{8-Hearts}{9-Hearts}{K-Diamonds} board was safe for Heinz and he doubled up to 7,700.

Cody Crushed by River

In what would be Jake Cody's final hand of the tournament, Cody opened to 750 from the hijack and found one caller in the big blind.

Cody's opponent checked the {10-Spades}{5-Hearts}{8-Spades} flop and Cody announced a 900 bet. His opponent immediately raised to 9,000 - which was enough to put Cody all in. Cody appeared a little put off, but he committed his last 8,000 after re-checking his hand.

Cody: {A-Spades}{6-Spades} for the nut flush draw.
Opponent: {7-Spades}{9-Hearts} for an open-ended straight draw.

Cody was actually ahead and would remain ahead on the {10-Clubs} turn, however, a cruel {6-Clubs} river gave his opponent a straight and Cody was sent to the rail.

Pilgrim Runs into Rockets

Dwyte Pilgrim
Dwyte Pilgrim

Action folded over to the player on the button, who opened to 500. The small blind folded and Dwyte Pilgrim took a peak at his cards and pushed his remaining 3,000 and change into the middle. His opponent snap called.

Pilgrim: {3-Clubs}{4-Clubs}
Opponent: {A-Hearts}{A-Spades}

"That's the hand you need in this kind of situation," Pilgrim said, referring to his own cards.

Unfortunately for Pilgrim, the {J-Spades}{10-Spades}{7-Hearts}{4-Diamonds}{A-Clubs} board left his opponent with a set of aces and by far the best hand and Pilgrim was sent to the rail.

Flack Fires Away

Layne Flack
Layne Flack

Layne Flack opened to 450 from early position and action folded all the way around to the player in the big blind, who made the call for a heads-up pot.

The flop came {K-Clubs}{A-Clubs}{K-Spades} and Flack's opponent checked, prompting a 600 bet from Flack. His opponent called and the turn brought the {4-Diamonds}. The big blind again checked and Flack had no intention of slowing down, as he fired 1,200 into the middle. Flack's opponent gave it some thought and gave up his hand.

Flack is now sitting on 21,800.

Le's Stack Straightened Out a Bit

Nam Le opened to 450 from the hijack position and found one caller in the big blind.

The flop brought a {8-Diamonds}{2-Clubs}{9-Hearts} and Le's opponent check-called a 600 continuation bet from Le. Both players checked the {K-Diamonds} turn, but Le's opponent fired a hefty 2,100 into the middle after a {6-Diamonds} completed the board. Le called fairly quickly and his opponent turned up {10-Clubs}{7-Clubs} for a rivered straight. Le took a look at his cards and tossed them into the muck.

Le has 15,500 after the hit to his stack.
