Event 2: $1,500 No-Limit Hold'em

The Eric Andersen Story

We reported during the Jacob Bazeley hand that Eric Andersen was down to 10,000 chips…want to know what happened next?

Hand 1

Andrew Badecker raised to 24,000 in the hijack seat, Richard Park called on the button and Eric Andersen was a forced all-in from the big blind. The flop was {9-Spades} {8-Clubs} {3-Spades}, Badecker bet 30,000 and Park called. The turn was the {A-Diamonds} and Badecker bet 67,000 and Park folded. Andersen must have thought he was beaten for sure, but he had a nice surprise when Badecker turned over his hand.

Andersen{8-Spades} {5-Diamonds}
Badecker{Q-Clubs} {10-Spades}

River: {2-Spades}

Andersen tripled up to 41,000

Hand 2

Richard Park raised to 24,000 from the cutoff and Eric Andersen moved all-in from the small blind; Park made the call.

Andersen{Q-Hearts} {8-Diamonds}
Park{A-Spades} {5-Diamonds}

Board: {Q-Spades} {Q-Diamonds} {9-Hearts} {3-Clubs} {2-Clubs}

Andersen doubled up to 98,000

Hand 3

The action folded around to Andersen on the button and he moved all-in. Abdyl Konjuhi made the call in the big blind and Andersen had his fourth successive showdown.

Konjuhi{K-Hearts} {10-Hearts}
Andersen{5-Diamonds} {3-Diamonds}

Board: {A-Clubs} {7-Diamonds} {7-Spades} {Q-Hearts} {7-Hearts}

So it was exciting while it lasted but the Andersen mini-revival was put to rest by Konjuhi.

John Juanda Has Been Eliminated

No 6th bracelet for Juanda...just quite yet.
No 6th bracelet for Juanda...just quite yet.

Multiple WSOP bracelet winner John Juanda has been eliminated in the last level of the day. We didn't see the hand but have been told that Juanda held {A-} {9-} against the {A-} {Q-} of Neil Willerson with Juanda hitting {A-} {9-} on the flop. Somewhere on the turn or the river a queen popped up and Juanda went from a big lead to dust.

Selbst Folds to Smith's Five Bet

Neil Willerson just raised to 26,000 and Dan Smith decided to three-bet to 59,000. Vanessa Selbst, who was sitting directly to his left, opted to four-bet to 104,000 with 270,000 behind. Willerson folded his cards and Smith stood up to take a good look at Selbst stack. "I'm all-in", he said around ten seconds later and Selbst folded her cards. Smith has been riding a roller coaster today but so far it doesn't seem to hurt him as he's back up to over the average stack.

Jacob Bazeley Takes The Chip Lead

Jacob Bazeley has taken the chip lead and the victim in the proceedings was Eric Andersen. Our attention was drawn to the table by the noise from the Bazeley rail. Bazeley had {J-Hearts} {8-Hearts} sitting in front of him and a big smile on his face. At the other end of the table Eric Andersen was sullen with {A-Diamonds} {A-Spades} sitting in front of him. The board was {J-Clubs} {8-Diamonds} {4-Diamonds} {K-Diamonds} {Q-Clubs} and we believed Andersen had opened, Bazeley had defended his big blind and then all hell broke loose on the flop. Bazeley faded the diamond on the river and now has 820,000 chips. Andersen meanwhile is left with 10,000 chips.

Juanda Can't Shake Selbst

Vanessa Selbst
Vanessa Selbst

On a {7-Diamonds}{10-Diamonds}{K-Hearts}{6-Spades} board John Juanda just bet 85,000 from middle position into Vanessa Selbst who was in the hijack. Selbst counted out the call, pulled back the chips, and eventually made the call. The river was the {K-Spades} and both players checked. Juanda showed {Q-Diamonds}{J-Hearts} after which Selbst tabled the winner, {10-Hearts}{9-Hearts}.

Selbst is back up to 475,000 while Juanda is in real danger with just over 12 big blinds left.

Sadan Turker Doubles Up

• Level 20: 5,000-10,000, 1,000 ante

Our overnight chip leader had found himself stumbling towards the bottom end of the chip counts before this much needed double up. The action folded around to Ryan Schmidt in the small blind and he put Sadan Turker all-in. Turker checked his cards and made the call from the big blind.

Turker{K-Spades} {7-Spades}
Schmidt{9-Spades} {7-Hearts}

Board: {J-Hearts} {6-Hearts} {4-Clubs} {4-Diamonds} {A-Hearts}

Turker now has 280,000 and Schmidt is down to 402,000
