Bonding Finds Right River Bet Size

Lars Bonding sized his river bet perfectly.
Lars Bonding sized his river bet perfectly.

We came upon this hand at the river with around 30,000 already in the pot. The board read {6-Clubs} {8-Clubs} {Q-Clubs} {5-Diamonds} {A-Spades}, Matt Glantz checked and Bonding bet 23,200 after some careful consideration.

Glantz was visibly unsure and took a few moments to think. He announced call, Bonding tabled {10-Clubs} {5-Clubs} and Glantz mucked his hand.

During the hand Viktor Blom was moved to their table and took some time to unrack his chips.

Yang's Queens Trumped By Radoja's Kings

[user196942]

We arrived just as World Series of Poker bracelet-winner Mark Radoja was scooping a huge pot with Jerry Yang strangely absent. Radoja was nice enough to let us know what had happened.

Radoja opened from under-the-gun and was three-bet by Yang in late position. The blinds folded and Radoja re-popped it. Yang five-bet all in and Radoja called.

Radoja: {K-Diamonds}{K-Hearts}
Yang: {Q-}{Q-}

The relatively sweat-free board came out {J-Hearts}{8-Spades}{7-Diamonds}{5-Clubs}{3-Spades} and Radoja scooped the massive pot with a pair of kings.

Radoja, who won Event #24: $5,000 No-Limit Hold'em Shootout last year, is up to 85,000 as a result Yang's demise.

Ring the Bell at the Citizen Bar

Jimmy D'Ambrosio has been eliminated from the tournament. He's the owner of a well known bar and restaurant, Citizen Bar, in Chicago. We understand his staff and regulars are following the coverage. Perhaps they should ring the last call bell in his honor.

Yang Sends One Home

[user196942]

2007 World Series of Poker Main-Event winner Jerry Yang opened to 1,350 from the button and was shoved on for 10,000 from the player in the big blind. Yang called and hands were revealed.

Yang: {K-Diamonds}{10-Diamonds}
Opponent: {A-Spades}{9-Clubs}

The board ran out {10-Spades}{6-Clubs}{5-Diamonds}{10-Hearts}{9-Spades} leaving Yang with trips, which was good enough to send his opponent to the rail.

Yang currently has 42,000.

Akenhead On the Move

Last we checked James Akenhead had around 40,000. The 2009 November Niner has more than doubled his stack seems to be in control of his table as we observed.

Dunst Sniffs Out Bluff

[user196942]

We caught up with the action on a completed board reading {7-Diamonds}{Q-Hearts}{K-Spades}{A-Clubs}{3-Diamonds}.

An early-position player led out for 3,000 and Tony Dunst was faced with a seemingly tough decision from the big blind. Dunst tanked for well over a minute and reluctantly tossed in a call.

"Sixes," his opponent said.

Dunst then revealed {K-Diamonds}{J-Spades} for a pair of kings and scooped the pot.

Dunst is back up to 11,000.

Statistical Anomaly

We were flagged down by Jerilyn Totani and she told us she had the craziest hand to tell us. Of course, our jaded selves responded with a smile, "If we had a dollar for every time we heard that..."

Frank Kasella was at the table and he confirmed that the winner of the following hand had less than a 10% chance of winning.

Thaigo Nishiuima called another players all in on a {K-} {7-} {10-} flop. Nishiuima had pocket aces and his opponent held {K-} {7-}. The turn came {10-} and the river came {A-}.

Totani had folded {A-} {10-} and Nishiuima took the chip lead.
