The 2016 European Poker Tour Barcelona festival continues today with the €5,300 Main Event at 12 p.m. local time.
The sunny festival in Spain is always a very popular stop with the players, and 2016 is no different. Attendance records have been shattered over the weekend, with last year's record-breaking field of 1,694 players looking to be topped as well. Poker legend John Juanda is the defending champion, who topped last year's field to bank the massive first-place prize of €1,022,593. Juanda is already off to a good start to the weekend, finishing 11th in the Super High Roller (€105,300).
Plenty of big names are expected to be in the field today, including Leo Fernandez, Steve O'Dwyer, Stephen Chidwick, Pratyush Buddiga, Mateusz Moolhuizen, Faraz Jaka, Dario Sammartino, Simon Deadman, and Barny Boatman.
Day 1A will see eight 75-minute levels on the schedule, with players beginning with 30,000 in tournament chips and the blinds kicking off at 50/100. There will be a 75-minute dinner break at the end of Level 6, and play should wrap up around 11:55 p.m. tonight.
The cards will be in the air shortly, so be sure to keep it locked right here to PokerNews.com all day long.
