Seiver Calls Gruissem's Shove

In the last hand before the impromptu break, Vanessa Selbst opened for 55,000 from the cutoff and received calls from Scott Seiver and Philipp Gruissem from the small and big blind respectively.

Two checks on the {Q-Hearts}{8-Clubs}{10-Clubs} flop put action on Selbst, and she fired out 83,000. Seiver called, and then Gruissem moved all in for 740,000. Selbst got out of the way, Sevier tank-called, and the hands were turned up:

Showdown
Seiver: {K-Diamonds}{Q-Clubs}
Gruissem: {A-Clubs}{9-Clubs}

Seiver was ahead with his pair of queens, but Gruissem was drawing live to clubs, an ace, and a gut-shot straight draw. The {2-Spades} was none of the above, but the {3-Clubs} was as it completed Gruissem's flush draw and gave him a double to 1.75 million.

Selbst Puts An End To Perkins

Bill Perkins
Bill Perkins

Action folded around to a short-stacked Bill Perkins on the button and he moved all in for 277,000. Team PokerStars Pro Vanessa Selbst was next to act in the small blind and she made the call. After the big blind folded, the cards were turned up:

Showdown
Selbst: {A-Clubs}{8-Hearts}
Perkins: {A-Diamonds}{7-Diamonds}

According to the PokerNews Odds Calculator, Selbst was a 52.44% favorite with a 19.98% chance of a tie. Perkins was in need of some help, but he found none on the {6-Spades}{Q-Diamonds}{4-Hearts} flop as he watched his chances drop to 18.07%. The {9-Spades} further dropped that to 6.82%, while the {K-Spades} put it at zero. With that, Perkins was eliminated from the tournament.

Ivey is Eliminated in Biggest Pot of the Tournament

Phil Ivey - Eliminated
Phil Ivey - Eliminated

David "Doc" Sands opened to 57,000 from early position, Phil Ivey defended his big blind, and the flop fell {5-Diamonds}{a-Clubs}{3-Diamonds}. Ivey checked, Sands continued for 64,000, and Ivey called.

The turn was the {6-Clubs}, Ivey checked again, and Sands tossed out 177,000. Ivey check-raised to 557,000, and Sands moved all in for 1.25 million.

The eight-time World Series of Poker bracelet winner went deep into the tank, readjusting himself in his chair. About three minutes later, he laughed to himself then called, putting his tournament life at risk.

Ivey: {5-Clubs}{2-Clubs}
Sands: {a-Hearts}{5-Hearts}

The river was the {6-Diamonds}, and Ivey was eliminated. Sands raked in the monstrous pot, and now has around three million chips.

Mercier's Aces Cracked

Jason Mercier opened to 48,000 in middle position, Vladimir Troyanovsky three-bet shoved for 216,000 on his direct left, and the action folded back to Mercier who immediately tossed it a handful of chips and turned over {a-Spades}{a-Diamonds}.

Troyanovsky flipped over {4-Hearts}{4-Clubs}, then exclaimed, "I can't believe it."

His spirits changed as the flop fell {3-Hearts}{10-Clubs}{4-Diamonds}, giving him a set of fours. The turn and river came {5-Clubs}, {k-Clubs} respectively, and Troyanovsky doubled to 450,000 chips.

Mercier is left with just 250,000.
