Cody Takes A Shot Of Petrone

We caught the following hand with around 30,000 in the pot and a board reading {7-Diamonds}{3-Hearts}{8-Hearts}{3-Diamonds}. Ramiro Petrone, who was sitting on a big stack, put Team PokerStars Pro Jake Cody to the test for his entire stack.

Cody thought about it for a long while before calling off his last 66,200 with {Q-Hearts}{Q-Spades}. It proved a wise choice as he was out in front of Petrone's {6-Hearts}{2-Hearts}. The {9-Diamonds} ended up blanking on the river and Cody received a healthy double.

Boeree Eliminated

Liv Boeree earlier on Day 2
Liv Boeree earlier on Day 2

Just before the end of the previous level, Liv Boeree was eliminated. After a player had opened in the cutoff, Timo Eckert three-bet to 7,200 from the button. Boeree, in the big blind, paused for a few moments before four-betting all in for about 40,000.

The original raiser folded, but Eckert called immediately with {A-Clubs}{K-Spades}. Boeree trailed with {K-Diamonds}{J-Spades} and it was all but over when the flop came down {A-Hearts}{4-Clubs}{3-Diamonds}. The {7-Hearts} turn and {8-Clubs} river officially brought Boeree's tournament to an end.

Three-Bet, Four-Bet, Five-Bet, Six!

A player in early position opened to 4,000, Maxim Lobzhanidze three-bet to 11,000 in the cutoff seat, and Nicolas Godoy four-bet to 23,000 from the big blind. The original raiser folded, Lobzhanidze five-bet to 41,000, Godoy six-bet to 65,000, and Lobzhanidze called.

The flop fell {q-Hearts}{9-Diamonds}{a-Clubs}. Both players checked. The turn was the {k-Diamonds}, and both players checked again.

The {j-Clubs} completed the board, and Godoy led for 75,000. Lobzhanidze called. Godoy tabled {a-Diamonds}{10-Diamonds} for a straight, and Lobzhanidze flashed {j-Spades}{j-Hearts} before mucking.

Trip Tens for Sabat Against Salsberg

From under the gun, Guillaume Rivet raised to 4,100. A couple seats over in middle position was Matt Salsberg, and he made the call before action fell to Eddy Sabat in the hijack seat. Sabat reraised to 12,100, then play folded through and back to Rivet. He gave it up, but Salsberg came along to see the flop.

The flop produced the {A-Diamonds}{10-Hearts}{5-Hearts}, and Salsberg checked. Sabat checked behind, and the dealer landed the {9-Spades} on the turn. Salsberg fired 8,000, and Sabat made the call.

On the river, the {10-Spades} paired the board. Salsberg bet 18,000, and Sabat quickly announced a call.

Salsberg showed the {A-Hearts}{Q-Clubs} for two pair, aces and tens, with a queen kicker. Sabat tabled the {J-Diamonds}{10-Diamonds} for trip tens to win the pot.

Anderson Drops A Big One to Myers Then Eliminates Kiletto

In the last hand before the break, Calvin Anderson eliminated the lovely Lily Kiletto.

It happened when Anderson opened from the button only to have Kiletto three-bet all in for right around 20,000 with {A-Clubs}{9-Clubs} from the big blind. Anderson made a reluctant call with {A-Hearts}{7-Clubs} and was far behind... that is until the flop fell {4-Spades}{7-Hearts}{2-Clubs}. Anderson hit his seven to take the lead, which is where he stayed as neither the {J-Hearts} turn nor {2-Hearts} river helped Kiletto.

Despite winning that hand, Anderson looked a bit disappointed with his stack. As the rest of the table went on break, he told us that he had just lost a big pot when he raised to 3,200 with {8-}{8-} only to have Kyle Myers three-bet to 6,600. Anderson responded with a four-bet to 12,000, Myers five-bet to 23,000, and Anderson six-bet shoved. Myers, who had 40,000, tanked for a bit and then called off with {K-}{10-}.

Anderson held through the {9-}{9-}{2-} flop and {J-} turn, but then the {K-} spiked on the river to give Myers the double to nearly 155,000.

Massey's Silver Lining

During the dinner break, we came across the following update from Aaron Massey:

"I'm out :( I got short, got Aces, then got very unlucky. Oh well, it's part of the game... There's a silver lining though... I have grown as a player and as a person do to this unbelievable experience."
