Makiievskyi Trending Up

2011 November Niner Anton Makiievskyi has been steadily accumulating chips over the past few levels, and is now closing in on the 200,000-chip mark.

In a recent hand, Team PokerStars Pro Jude Ainsworth opened to 3,500, Manny Jo called on the button, and Makiievskyi three-bet to 9,000 from the big blind. Ainsworth released, Jo called, and the dealer fanned {q-Spades}{j-Diamonds}{6-Clubs}. Makiievskyi led for 14,000, and Jo called.

Both players checked after the {k-Hearts} turned, and the {10-Diamonds} completed the board. Makiievskyi fired five blue T5,000 chips, and Jo quickly mucked.

Augdal Busts Cajelais

Terje Augdal opened to an unknown amount and Erik Cajelais reraised to 10,000. Augdal four-bet to 20,000 and then Cajelais moved all in for 80,000 or so. Augdal called and tabled the {A-Clubs}{Q-Spades}. Cajelais held the {A-Spades}{6-Hearts}.

The flop, turn and river ran out {A-Hearts}{6-Spades}{4-Diamonds}{Q-Diamonds}{5-Diamonds} for a little suck-resuck action and Cajelais headed out the door.

Mortensen: {9-Hearts}{8-Hearts}
Drinan: {a-Spades}{k-Clubs}

The {q-Diamonds} on the turn was clean, but the {10-Hearts} spiked on the river, giving Mortensen a winning flush. The 2001 Main Event Champion doubled to over 170,000 chips, while Drinan is left with under 20,000.

Julius Out

Ryan Julius - Eliminated.
Ryan Julius - Eliminated.

We missed the hand, but we heard a dealer yell "seat open" from across the room. We looked over, and saw that Ryan Julius was leaving the tournament area and there were no chips at his seat. He may be out of the High Roller, but his younger brother Kyle is currently the chip leader at the unofficial final table of the Main Event.

A Hall Lotta Spades

When we reached the table, the board read {k-Clubs}{10-Spades}{6-Spades}{2-Clubs}{8-Spades}, and there was about 33,000 in the middle. Govert Metaal checked, and Galen Hall fired 23,600. Metaal tank-called, and Hall turned over {5-Spades}{3-Spades} for a rivered flush.

Metaal chuckled to himself, then mucked his hand.

Makhija: {k-Hearts}{k-Diamonds}
Deeb: {q-Spades}{q-Diamonds}

The {q-Hearts}{5-Diamonds}{7-Clubs} flop propelled Deeb into the lead, but the {k-Clubs} spiked on the turn, giving Makhija a better set. The {9-Diamonds} bricked on the river, and Makhija doubled to around 113,000 chips.

Perkins Busts Lacay

Chris Hunichen raised to 2,700 from the hijack seat and Steve O'Dwyer called from the cutoff. In the small blind, Bill Perkins reraised to 12,700. Ludovic Lacay tank-called the three-bet from the big blind before Hunichen and O'Dwyer got out of the way.

The flop came down {8-Diamonds}{6-Diamonds}{6-Hearts} and Perkins bet all in, having Lacay's remaining 48,000 covered by a little bit. Lacay called and rolled over the {10-Spades}{10-Clubs}. Perkins held the {K-Diamonds}{K-Clubs}.

The turn was the {Q-Clubs} and river the {A-Spades}. Both missed Lacay and he was eliminated from action. Perkins moved back to 135,000 in chips.
