Sowers Drops Back-To-Back

Mike Sowers loses two straight, but is still healthy.

Mike Sowers, who made the final table of the 2011 PokerStars Caribbean Adventure Main Event, is off to a fast start today. Unfortunately, he just lost consecutive hands, but he's still over 100,000 chips.

In the first hand, Sowers was heads up with Jason Koon, and the board read {6-Clubs}{6-Spades}{j-Hearts}{2-Spades}. Sowers check-called a 11,100-chip bet, and the {5-Spades} completed the board. Sowers checked again, and Koon fired 14,000. Sowers mucked.

The next hand, Sowers opened to 1,400 from middle position, and Mike Telker called on his direct left. The action behind folded, and the dealer fanned {a-Diamonds}{8-Clubs}{5-Clubs}. Sowers check-called a 1,700-chip bet from Telker, and the {2-Hearts} turned. Sowers check-called another bet from Telker - this time the amount was 7,000 - and the {k-Spades} completed the board.

Sowers checked a third time, and Telker immediately reached for a handful of blue T5,000 chips, added three yellow T1,000 chips, and tossed 28,000 forward. Sowers tanked for half of a minute before eventually calling, and Telker tabled {5-Hearts}{5-Spades} for a flopped set of fives.

Sowers mucked.
