Gruissem Moves in on Shak

Dan Shak opened for 11,000 from middle position and was met by a three-bet to 24,000 by Philipp Gruissem on the button. The blinds folded, Shak called, and then both players checked the {7-Clubs}{10-Spades}{5-Clubs} flop. After the dealer had burned and turned the {K-Diamonds}, Shak checked and Gruissem grabbed his stack of approximately 54,000 and slid it into the middle.

Shak grabbed some chips as if he was going to call, but then he released them and sent his cards to the muck.

Robl Back with a Vengeance; Eliminates Watson

Mike Watson
Mike Watson

Andrew Robl was the first player to bust from the tournament today, but he opted to fire a second bullet. Apparently he's come back with a vengeance as he's now the chip leader after eliminating Mike Watson.

It happened when Igor Kurganov opened for 6,500 from the hijack and Robl three-bet to 17,000 from the button. Watson then four-bet to 37,000 from the big blind, Kurganov folded, and Robl five-bet the pot. Watson announced that he was all in for 177,000 and Robl, who barely had him covered, made the call.

Robl: {K-Clubs}{K-Hearts}
Watson: {A-Hearts}{K-Diamonds}

Robl was a huge favorite and looking to dodge an ace. According to the PokerNews Odds Calculator, Watson had just a 29.74% chance of winning the hand, though that jumped a bit to 30.30% as he picked up a gutshot straight draw. The {q-Diamonds} turn was no help, and Watson watched his chances of survival be cut in half to 15.91%. Unfortunately for him, that hit zero when the {3-Spades} blanked on the river. The stack were verified, and then Watson made a hasty exit from the tournament floor.

Robl Five-Bet Shoves

Andrew Robl opened the action for 7,000 under the gun only to have Tobias Reinkemeier, who was next to act, three-bet to 17,000. Action then folded around to Igor Kurganov, who came in with a four-bet to 35,500 from the small blind.

The big blind folded, and Robl thought for about 45 seconds before five-betting the pot, which committed him for 119,900. Reinkemeier folded, and Kurganov tanked for a solid two minutes before doing the same.

After a bit of thought, Juanda moved all in for between 70,000-75,000. Kagawa snapped it off with the {A-Spades}{A-Diamonds}. Juanda held the {J-Diamonds}{J-Spades}.

The flop, turn and river ran out {K-Hearts}{Q-Hearts}{6-Spades}{8-Spades}{2-Spades}, and Juanda was eliminated.

Lee Liu

Chris "Genius28" Lee
Chris "Genius28" Lee

Eric Liu raised to 6,000 under the gun and cleared the field all the way to Chris "Genius28" Lee in the big blind. He opted to push back to 14,200, Liu raised the pot, and Lee committed for 67,400 total.

Lee: {A-Hearts}{A-Spades}
Liu: {A-Clubs}{Q-Diamonds}

The railbirds, who're several people deep, watched on the overhead TV monitor as the dealer put down the flop... {J-Hearts}{8-Clubs}{9-Clubs}. Some "ohhhs" and "ahhhs" echoed from the rail when Liu picked up a gutshot straight draw, but they quickly faded into nothingness as the {4-Hearts} appeared on the turn followed by the {3-Clubs} river.

Lee's aces held and he received a welcomed double.
