Four Tables

With John Monnette's elimination, the field has been reduced to just 28 players. Another table break means we're down to just four seven-handed tables. While players were still moving, Calvin Anderson and Dan O'Brien both busted as well, and suddenly we're down to 26.

Out Of Monnette

John Monnette open-shoved for about 43,000 from the cutoff seat, and David Baker called right next door.

Baker patted with {J-}{9-}{8-}{5-}{3-}, and Monnette needed one card. He showed {10-}{7-}{6-}{3-}, but we never got to see his draw card. It wasn't good, apparently, as he slung it into the muck and headed for the doors.

That's the end of the road for Monnette, while the defending champ rebounds to 170,000 after rough going the last couple levels.

DonkeyBombed

Tom Schneider had just 5,100 chips left when he stuck them in there with {9-}{8-}{3-}{X-}{X-}. John Brikis called and patted with {K-}{Q-}{9-}{3-}{2-}.

Schneider pulled an {A-} as his first card, and that was that. He's out, and Brikis chips up a bit to about 75,000.

Raymer Moving Up

Under the gun, Brandon Cantu raised to 9,000, and Greg Raymer and Phil Hellmuth both called. Everyone took one card.

Cantu was the first one to fire at the pot, betting 21,000 after the draw. Hellmuth check-folded, but Raymer quickly called with his {8-}{7-}{5-}{4-}{3-}. It was good, and it's good enough to move him up to 185,000 or so, knocking Cantu back to 150,000.

Sung Steamrolls

Steve Sung made it 8,500 to go and was called by Nick Schulman. Sung stood pat while Schulman drew one.

Sung continued his aggression after the draw by firing out a bet of 10,500 and Schulman made the call. Sung tabled {10-}{7-}{5-}{3-}{2-} and Schulman tossed his hand into the muck.

Chan Double Dips

There was a raise under the gun before Calvin Anderson reraised to 17,600. Action came around to Johnny Chan, and he reraised all in for 49,400 total. The initial raiser folded, but Anderson called to put Chan at risk. Come on, you know Johnny Chan's not going anywhere. Both players stood pat, and Chan's {10-}{7-}{4-}{3-}{2-} was just better than Anderson's {10-}{7-}{6-}{4-}{3-}, earning him the double up to about 110,000.

Anderson is down around 62,000.

Main Event Champions Collide

Greg Raymer raised it to 6,000 from the button and was called by Phil Hellmuth in the big blind. Both players drew one card.

Hellmuth led out after the draw, betting 7,000 into Raymer and Raymer made the call, showing a {10-}{7-}{6-}{5-}{3-}. Hellmuth also had a ten-seven low but Raymer's was better, causing Hellmuth to shoot his cards into the muck.

Raymer is now sitting with 155,000 in chips while Hellmuth has been knocked down a bit to 228,000.
